AB#360 Pentaris is a multi-canvas composition made from jute canvases: a central circular canvas surrounded by four rectangular canvases, forming a single interconnected work.

The arrangement evokes the structure of a planetary system. Four dark circular forms move around and partially obscure the central sun, generating four distinct eclipses that never reach totality. At the outer edges of the composition, four additional suns establish a second gravitational field, extending the visual system beyond its central axis.

The work suggests a particular celestial architecture in which multiple bodies continuously approach one another, creating the possibility of an eclipse without ever completing it. Each canvas becomes a separate point within a larger gravitational structure, while the spaces between them become as important as the forms themselves.

Rather than representing a single astronomical event, Pentaris imagines a system governed by perpetual movement and unstable alignments. There are potentially infinite configurations in which one celestial body can obscure another, yet no configuration achieves complete darkness.

The eclipse therefore becomes not an ending, but a condition of continuous possibility: an equilibrium between concealment and revelation, proximity and distance, light and shadow. The work transforms the idea of the solar system into an abstract structure in which every alignment is temporary and every eclipse remains incomplete.

The artwork is painted on recycled raw canvas made from coffee sacks, handcrafted by artisan Carlo Mottola of Aversa. This material choice reinforces the dialogue between matter and perception, grounding the ethereal landscape in a tangible, lived surface.
