I portray the image ABC#215 Blue Nature as a fragment of a tree bark I encountered in the Baratro area near Antella, in the municipality of Bagno a Ripoli, close to Florence. I often walk through this landscape during the winter holidays, a place dense with wild and ancient trees shaped by time and natural events.
During a particularly reflective period of my life, I chose to isolate this small portion of bark, revealing microorganisms on its surface that resemble coral-like structures. I reworked the image digitally, immersing it in shades of blue and placing it against a black background, allowing the detail to detach from its original scale and context.
In this work, I explore the idea that entire worlds exist within fragments. What may appear insignificant holds a universe worth observing a space to get lost in and find refuge from the surrounding world. The blue tones do not evoke coldness, but rather a psychological journey, an inner movement toward contemplation and stillness.
