This work is an abstract interpretation of the horizon over Lake Trasimeno, captured through an experimental photographic technique using a Canon lens.
By moving the camera horizontally during the exposure, the landscape is transformed into a sequence of flowing lines, blurred shapes and chromatic transitions. The movement dissolves the recognisable details of the scenery, allowing colour to emerge as the main subject of the composition.
The resulting image explores the boundary between photography and abstraction, where the horizon becomes a fluid visual experience rather than a precise geographical reference. The gradual blending of colours creates a sense of depth, rhythm and continuity, evoking the atmosphere of the lake through its essential visual elements.
This research is strongly influenced by the work of Franco Fontana, whose approach to photography has deeply informed my understanding of colour as a fundamental compositional element. In this work, colour is not simply used to describe the landscape; it becomes an independent expressive language, capable of defining space, balance and emotion.
The photograph is produced as a high-quality fine art print on canvas, in a large-format presentation with a wide black border designed to allow the work to be stretched onto a frame at a later stage. The canvas is carefully packaged and shipped rolled to ensure safe delivery.
